I honestly still can't believe it. I got a call from my sister as soon as she heard and I thought it was some kind of joke, until I turned on the news. MTV had a video tribute for him so I watched it for a while and waking up today, I'm still in shock. Because he was such a huge figure in music (especially in my home) it's easy to assume that everyone has a special memory of the legend. On that note, I'd like to share one of mine (because I'm a dork);
I think I was about 5 when I first really heard Michael Jackson. I was at my grandma's house with my mom and baby sister when they decided to put Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video on (we still have the VHS XD). Once the "movie" started, I was pretty much glued to the TV set. It was absolutely amazing to watch, up until then I'd only really watched things like Disney movies, Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo, Bananas in Pajamas and Barney. Of course, the video is a horror one, so when the camera panned from MJ's girlfriend to zombified Michael, I leapt from the couch and hid behind the wall. I was over it pretty quickly though, thanks to the dancing zombies. Even at 5 I remember being pretty disappointed to see the video end, but I didn't want to see that shocking image of Michael again. Looking back I'm pretty sure if I hadn't seen that video, I wouldn't have my love of horror movies and zombies.
So, that's my little nugget of MJ goodness, now I want to read a story from whoever reads this. > ]
